Are the photos accessible anywhere? Have you seen them? It would be very interesting to see shots of the other bands and/or speakers--Tim Leary may have been there, for example--and also to see crowd shots.Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-59287050135280069842014-03-23T11:33:32.841-07:002014-03-23T11:33:32.841-07:00there are about 145 pictures from this event ..one...there are about 145 pictures from this event ..one of the best photo-documented gigs of the old deadhanwakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12629503932708966754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-63564343733392370552013-11-21T20:16:37.908-08:002013-11-21T20:16:37.908-08:00Robert, I think you may be referring to the Sep 29...Robert, I think you may be referring to the Sep 29 '68 MFU Be-In. Steve Miller headlined, and a then-unknown Carlos Santana dropped in to jam. Some pictures of the show can be seen here: http://cryptdev.blogspot.com/2010/09/mfu-be-in-el-camino-park-palo-alto.html

Was Sweet Smoke a San Jose band? Didn't Sweet Smoke play the San Jose Be-In in May, 1967, with Country Joe and The Fish. Was Sweet Smoke's bass player named Jerry Bradley? If I am recalling it correctly, Sweet Smoke used CJF's equipment, and he blew out the bass player's amp.
Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-231361316344702392013-11-21T19:59:39.251-08:002013-11-21T19:59:39.251-08:00Well I went to one of those concerts at El Camino ...Well I went to one of those concerts at El Camino Park - I think it was the '68 concert. I seem to recall that the name of the headliner was the Steve Miller Blues Band and then name of the rhythm guitarist was a skinny blond guy name Boz Skaggs. I was in a band at the time called "Sweet Smoke".Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10335611933300780132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-86428226054812991442010-10-12T12:04:15.931-07:002010-10-12T12:04:15.931-07:00A number of people recalled different things over ...A number of people recalled different things over the years about who played. Although I myself was only there for a short time, I think that the event was quite long, with a lot of "down time." Many people I have talked to remember a band or two, but not all of them, which would make sense.

I still have no sense whether the Dead played earlier or later in the afternoon.Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-19177548739298689032010-10-12T11:54:00.935-07:002010-10-12T11:54:00.935-07:00I was also at this event and while I remember the ...I was also at this event and while I remember the Dead and AAA, Big Brother did not perform, at least not while I was there. Jerry was wearing those patchwork jeans that appear in a photo in one of the GD photo collections (which photo I always assumed was from the El Camino Park event, but perhaps not).DanRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05629981083203569406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-36554352370587872472009-07-21T10:58:52.023-07:002009-07-21T10:58:52.023-07:00I was there!
