The truck was parked alongside a building on the east side of Front Street between Green and Vallejo. This can be deduced from Andrew Wong’s photos looking northwest at Chris Wood (where 1001 Front Street is behind him) and Jeff Blankfort’s photos looking southwest (where the 847 Front Street garage is behind Chris, along with the Broadway offramp of the Embarcadero Freeway). The front of Pier 19 can also be seen in the background of some of Andrew’s photos, placing the event due south of that. The band is facing west, and seem to be in the sun - which implies it’s the afternoon, so perhaps this was the weekend street fair.Kevin Walshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05259296817655720549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-51851353792142851692020-05-07T11:10:41.408-07:002020-05-07T11:10:41.408-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Kevin Walshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05259296817655720549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-52321697136873119492019-07-28T15:14:24.628-07:002019-07-28T15:14:24.628-07:00Alas, the links to the pix are dead ...Alas, the links to the pix are dead ...Fate Musichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05648291938690043423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-66809990334723791562011-06-09T11:04:54.472-07:002011-06-09T11:04:54.472-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-23887860093149734732010-09-09T09:00:04.026-07:002010-09-09T09:00:04.026-07:00Thanks Jeff, I changed the [virtual] caption to sa...Thanks Jeff, I changed the [virtual] caption to say Stratocaster.Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493557313410969282.post-47705017474693647272010-09-09T08:12:26.176-07:002010-09-09T08:12:26.176-07:00Nitpicking point, but the 1st photo says Stevie is...Nitpicking point, but the 1st photo says Stevie is playing a Telecaster. On the 15th - 17th, the Dead were playing at the Carousel; and on the weekend of March 22-23, the Dead were playing in Detroit!

This doesn't leave Jerry much time to sit in at a Traffic show. So this daytime appearance may have been unique.

After a brief search though, I see that Garcia did play Dear Mr Fantasy with Traffic again - in summer 1994! A pity Garcia didn't play with Traffic on other occasions (when tape-recorders were present....)

Jimi Hendrix, by the way, was a big Traffic fan from early on and played with various members several times. There's even a recording of him playing Dear Mr Fantasy at Winterland, Feb 4 '68.
